DR.CARMEN NELSON,
PH.D., REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST, FOUNDER & CLINICAL DIRECTOR

Carmen

Dr. Carmen Nelson is driven by the vision of seamlessly incorporating mental health and wellness into everyday life, striving to create an environment that is both comfortable and accessible. This vision served as the foundation for The Practice Calgary, established in 2011, and continues to shape the approach she and her team take towards promoting wellbeing.

Dr. Nelson possesses a Ph.D. in Psychology, with a focus on behavioral neurology, mind-body science, health psychology, and interpersonal relationships. She is known for her honesty, transparency, and commitment to making a positive impact.

In addition, she has earned HeartMath Clinical Certification and completed 200 hours of yoga teacher training. She is also certified in advanced OEI trauma therapy.

Currently, she is not accepting new clients and operates on a physician referral basis only.

DR.PAT FERRIS,
MSW, RSW, M.SC., PH.D.

Dr. Pat Ferris brings 35 years of diverse experience to her practice, having worked in various environments including hospitals, community mental health organizations, employee assistance programs, and private practice. This extensive background equips her to effectively support individuals on their unique mental health journeys across different contexts.

In addition to her practical experience, Dr. Ferris holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Organizational Psychology, focusing on quality of life issues related to workplace challenges such as stress, bullying, and work-life balance. Recognized as an international authority on workplace bullying, she also possesses specialized training in trauma treatment.

DR.SEBASTIAN SAINT, PH.D.,REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST & CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Saint earned his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology from the University of Calgary in 2008. He then pursued a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan, which he completed in 2018 after finishing his pre-doctoral residency in Nova Scotia. Since obtaining his Ph.D., Dr. Saint has been practicing in Calgary, Alberta. He brings a wealth of training and experience to each session, striving to build a strong rapport with every client. His expertise includes working with trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, and complex mental health challenges, as well as supporting neurodivergent individuals. Dr. Saint employs interdisciplinary evidence-based approaches such as CBT and ACT, to enhance his clients’ mental health. He specializes in using Prolonged Exposure Therapy to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Adjustment Disorder. 

In addition to therapy, Dr. Saint conducts comprehensive assessments for both children and adults. He provides psychoeducational assessments and ADHD assessments to identify learning strengths and challenges, helping individuals better understand their unique learning profile. He also completes psychodiagnostic assessments to clarify complex mental health concerns, including personality disorders. Dr. Saint has completed Office of the Public Guardianship Capacity Assessment Training and can help navigate difficult decisions around Guardianship and Capacity assessments. Additionally, Dr. Saint performs Veterans Affairs Canada Medical Questionnaire Assessments to determine whether individuals meet the diagnostic criteria for any any mental illness that developed during either military or RCMP service. CHRIS ROZELL,
MC, REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST

Chris
Chris combined the sciences and arts through his undergraduate education and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Calgary in 2005. While working with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families/caregivers, he completed a Masters in Counselling Psychology through Athabasca University.
Chris has over 25 years of experience working with children, teens, adults, families, caregivers, and neurodivergent individuals. Individual counselling sessions can focus on stress management, anxiety and depression management, managing OCD, managing ADHD, and coping with health challenges (chronic pain from sports or motor vehicle injuries, sleep disorders, and so on). Chris has also completed the Gottman training and works with individuals and couples to promote healthy relationships.
Chris has an integrative approach, combining health psychology, the neuroscience of wellness, sports psychology, over 10 years of biofeedback training, mindfulness, and traditional counselling (CBT, SFT, DBT, and ACT).
On a personal note, Chris loves his family, friends, music, sports, and adventures of all types. As such, he strives to promote optimal performance in his clients, helping them with their own passions and sense of identity, promoting sense of purpose, and lifelong learning.

VICTORIA HUNTER, MACP, REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST

Victoria adopts a client-centered, trauma-informed, and attachment-focused approach in her practice. She emphasizes the significance of interpersonal relationships, viewing attachment as a critical element influencing an individual’s overall well-being. With a keen interest in attachment theory and interpersonal dynamics, Victoria provides a range of support services within this framework, including couple’s counseling (Certified Gottman Level 1 & 2), individual relational support, communication skills development, establishing healthy boundaries, emotional regulation techniques, behavioral issue management, anxiety reduction strategies, conflict resolution, and parenting or family support.

With 16 years of experience in the human services sector, Victoria holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Child Studies from Mount Royal University. She initially worked in residential treatment programs before enrolling in Yorkville’s Master of Counselling Program (MACP), which enabled her to gain practical experience while studying. Victoria graduated in 2015 and subsequently registered with the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association as a Canadian Certified Counsellor. She is currently registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and practices as a Registered Psychologist.

BREATHWORKER

Dan’s gentle nature and solid presence create a sense of safety and ease. A craftsman by heart and by hand, he finds meaning in building, creating, and being present with what is true.His personal journey has been a heartfelt quest to uncover truth and to live more fully in alignment with what is real, present, and meaningful.

TENAYA RYAN,
MANAGER & MEDIA

Tenaya

Tenaya spent two years at The Practice Calgary supporting client care, clinical administration, and media. In 2024, she transitioned her focus toward completing her undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Victoria. While pursuing her degree, she continues to collaborate remotely with The Practice Calgary through media and administrative support.

When she is in town, Tenaya also helps host groups and facilitate yoga with MindManifest, a breathwork-oriented healing company adjacent to The Practice Calgary.

Tenaya brings creativity and care to her work, capturing, editing, and producing content that helps share the story and work of The Practice Calgary.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

With 16 years of extensive experience in the medical field and administration, Laura offers a wealth of diverse expertise in her role. Her career is characterized by a strategic mindset, driven by a commitment to fostering strong relationships and demonstrating empathy in her services. Laura is passionate about cultivating inviting and tranquil environments, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable as soon as they enter.

 In her leisure time, she cherishes family gatherings—particularly with her grandson—along with reading, swimming, and camping, as she finds solace and strength in the great outdoors.

Miss Lila (Lē-La) serves as our wonderful therapy support dog, dedicated to providing love and comfort to clients during their sessions. If you’re not particularly fond of dogs, that’s perfectly fine; Miss Lila is equally content to spend her time napping throughout the day.
