In some ways, Dawn started her journey from a young age. As a small-town, Canadian prairie girl she had big questions about life … What are we meant to be doing here? Who am I meant to be? How do I become them? …and has spent many years in pursuit of the answers.
Growing up confused, seeking, and rather lost about how to navigate life, its challenging events and emotions, Dawn searched for decades for something that could give meaning to life, for relief from thoughts, emotions & stress and for practices & tools to negotiate life’s twists and turns.
After more than 15 years of yoga practice & studies, she arrived to the meditation cushion which quickly expanded into a dedicated breath practice as well. Since then, she has experienced the combination becoming the single most powerful, potent and effective activity she’s undertaken, one that truly transformed her well-being and relationship with life.
She has found the combination to be highly supportive to her clients in unraveling old patterns, belief systems, detangling truth from untruth, demystifying the tricks of the mind, to welcome back all aspects of the Self and heal old experiences.
An HR professional, corporate facilitator, life coach, mediator, NLP practitioner, Reiki Master, yoga & meditation teacher and trauma-informed Embodiment and Breathwork Coach, it’s been a steady path, navigated by her own life experiences. A life-long student, Dawn continues to explore, study and undertake trainings and certifications in order to continuously inform and evolve her offering. Her work lives in her, as she practices her own, and others’ teachings, and passionately shares her learnings with a centred, grounded and inviting approach.
Dawn is a skilled facilitator who offers deep authenticity and holds conscious, loving presence and provides a sensitive, secure and thoughtful space from which to embark.
Somatic Breathwork is an experiential opportunity to meet, repair and release what is "stuck" below the level of conscious cognition. The body is a storehouse of every experience, thought, belief and action we have had in this lifetime and it is also the home of an innate intelligence that is beyond our "thinking mind". For many of us, as we move through life and instinctively adapt to cope, survive and protect ourselves from our environment, we separate from what hurts and this leads to losing touch with our innate wisdom within. It gets buried beneath chronic dysregulation, limiting beliefs, stories of protection and "never again", coping strategies, busy-ness, and poor breathing habits.
While you can't change what happened in the past, you can change what you made it all mean and how you feel when you recall and relate to past versions and experiences. With Somatic Breathwork you can increase your resiliency, enhance your ability to pause, feel your reactions, and choose a mindful response, and reconsolidate memories with more compassion, wisdom and understanding.
The practice of Somatic Breathwork is a process of getting in touch with a mindful and open state of being, either seated or lying down on your back. This may begin with some gentle movement, teaching more about how your breath and nervous system work, and guidance into various ways the body can express and release stress and stored charges. You will also learn some important foundational practices of how to breathe optimally and how to self-regulate so that you can access deeper pre-cognitive memories while feeling safe, secure and confident in your ability to come back to a calm and grounded state.
You will be guided to breathe in a conscious, connected and relaxed rhythm, through your nose or mouth, or a combination of the two. When circular breathing is sustained alongside a felt sense of safety, curiosity and support, we are finally resourced, present and ready to feel what has been suppressed or repressed, and move it through the body to completion. By slowly and safely recalling and/or feeling what hasn't yet been resolved or released from our system, we are able to witness ourselves in a new way. From this new perspective, we address these moments that have been frozen in time with corrective experiences and garner insights and wisdom that support integration.
